Chairman, DC flag off cyclathon to mark Gandhi Jayanti, promote cleanliness

Municipal Corporation Jalandhar organizes activities under Swachh Bharat Mission 

Jalandhar News: Chairman Punjab Safai Karamchari Commission Chandan Grewal, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today flagged off a cyclathon organized by the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation and public health department in honor of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The rally, held under the Swachh Bharat Mission, aimed to spread awareness about cleanliness across the city. Municipal Commissioner Gautam Jain lead the events.
In addition to the cyclathon, several other activities, including a painting competition, rangoli competition, essay writing, and speeches, were held to commemorate the day. The Chairman and the Deputy Commissioner lauded the Municipal Corporation’s efforts, noting their commitment to raising public awareness regarding cleanliness through these engaging initiatives. Participants enthusiastically took part, reflecting the community’s dedication to maintaining a clean and green environment in line with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a Swachh Bharat. They mentioned that this event will go a long way in sensitizing people to adopt best practices from cleanliness standpoint. The exhibition related to this mission also became a attraction point among visitors.
Notably, more than 300 peddlers participated in the Cycle Rally. Similarly, over 1000 students participated in these events from different schools and colleges, who recieved prizes after the events.
The jury comprised Parveen Abrol, Varun and Ankush. On the ocassion Joint Commissioner Dr Mandeep Kaur, Assistant Commissioner Rajesh Khokhar, Dr Sumita Abrol, System Manager Rajesh, SE Rahul Dhawan, EE Rampal, Sukhwinder Singh were also present.
