2 killed, 30 injured as PRTC’s Volvo bus overturns in Bhawanigarh

Chandigarh: A PRTC Volvo bus, which was on its way to Bathinda from Chandigarh, overturned while trying to save a tempo near Village Balad Kalan near Bhawanigarh in Punjab’s Sangrur district late on Friday evening. Two passengers, including a woman, were killed and more than 30 others injured in the accident.

The deceased have been identified as Rajinder Kumar (28), a resident of village Balad Kalan and Gurpreet Kaur (50), a resident of Tungwali village in Bathinda district.

Soon after the accident, the STF team and passersby rushed to the spot and pulled the passengers out of the bus and rushed the injured to the Civil Hospital.

The condition of 19 of the injured passengers is said to be critical, out of which 16 have been referred to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala and three have been referred to Civil Hospital Sangrur.

The remaining minor injured were given first aid and sent home.

When the bus going to Bathinda reached near Honey Dhaba, suddenly a tanker came on the road, which overtook and the bus overturned on the side of the road.
