Panchayat polls: Campaigning ends, polling to be held on Oct 15

Chandigarh: Campaigning for the panchayat polls has come to an end at 6 pm. The polling will be held from 8 am to 4 pm on October 15. All arrangements have been completed by the election administration.

A total of 13,237 sarpanchs and 83,427 panchs are to be elected in Punjab. Likewise, 3,798 sarpanchs and 48,861 panchs have been elected unanimously in the state.

At present, 25,588 candidates are in the fray for sarpanchi and 80,598 for panchi. A total of 1,33,97,922 voters will exercise their franchise in the state.

The votes will be cast through ballot papers. A pink ballot paper has been prepared for sarpanchi and white colour for panchi. 19,110 polling booths have been set up for these votes.
