Air India passengers diverted after bomb threat flown to Chicago on Canadian air force aircraft

Vancouver: More than 18 hours after Air India’s Chicago-bound flight was diverted to Canada’s Iqaluit Airport on October 15, 191 of the 211 stranded passengers were flown to Chicago on a Canadian Air Force aircraft.

The flight, AI127, which included 20 crew members, was diverted following a bomb threat.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Air India confirmed that the passengers were en route to their destination. The airline also shared an update on social media platform ‘X’.

The Boeing 777-300ER, traveling from Delhi to Chicago, made an emergency landing at Iqaluit in the Canadian province of Nunavut after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police received the bomb threat. All passengers and crew safely disembarked.

In the past two days, at least 10 Indian flights have received bomb threats. However, after security checks, no suspicious items were found on any of the planes.
