Governor stresses importance of quality education and safety for girls
Jalandhar News: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria today emphasized the need for quality education and safety for girls, stating that a conducive environment must be created to allow women to fully participate and contribute in social, economic, cultural, and political spheres.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Prem Chand Markanda SD College for Women, Jalandhar, Governor Mr. Kataria highlighted the vital role girls play as the foundation of society. He stressed the need to empower them through education and provide them with the tools to realize their dreams. He noted that women possess immense potential and, when given the right direction, can achieve great heights.
The Governor remarked that India’s history is filled with examples of women’s contributions, and even today, women are working shoulder-to-shoulder with men in fields like politics, military, police, sports, and arts. He emphasized that no field has been untouched by women’s competence.
Highlighting the role of education in building a healthy and progressive society, the Governor urged everyone to contribute to empowering women. He praised the college’s 50 years of contribution to girls’ education and offered his best wishes for future success.
The event also saw the release of a college souvenir and the recognition of young entrepreneurs under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Governor Mr. Kataria was honored by the college’s governing body, and stalls set up by students were showcased. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, SDM Randeep Singh, and other dignitaries.
