Former Punjab MLA Arrested for Smuggling Heroin, Police Recover Drugs and Cash
Chandigarh: Former Ferozepur Rural MLA Satkar Kaur has been arrested by Punjab’s Special Task Force (STF) for smuggling heroin. The arrest occurred around 5 pm on Wednesday, during which 100 grams of heroin was seized. Kaur’s driver attempted to flee the scene, injuring a police officer after running him over.
Both a Cruise and a BMW vehicle were also confiscated from the spot.
In a press conference, Inspector General Sukhchain Singh Gill confirmed that investigations are ongoing. The case has been registered at the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) police station in Mohali.
Following the arrest, a raid was conducted at Kaur’s residence, where 28 grams of “chitta” (a term for heroin) and Rs 1.56 lakh in suspected drug money were recovered.
Satkar Kaur, who left the Congress party in 2022 to join the BJP, had previously been under investigation by the Vigilance Bureau over allegations of disproportionate assets. In an earlier raid, the former MLA was questioned for five hours.
