Canada backstabbed India in Khalistani investigation row, says Sanjay Verma
New Delhi: India’s recalled High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Verma, has accused Canada of acting in an “unprofessional manner,” stating that India has been “stabbed in the back” by a nation with which it shares traditionally strong relations.
Tensions between the two countries have been escalating following Canada’s accusation that India was involved in the killing of Canadian national Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June 2023.
Speaking to PTI after his return to India, Verma further claimed that Canada is supporting the Khalistani movement for electoral gain.
