Charanjit Channi apologises for derogatory remarks against women

Chandigarh: Former Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday apologised for his derogatory remarks against women.

“If anyone’s sentiments have been hurt, I apologise with folded hands,” the Congress leader told reporters. He said he could never even think of saying anything against women.

“I am not against anyone,” the Jalandhar MP said. Taking suo motu cognisance of a video of Channi going viral on social media, the Punjab State Women’s Commission on Monday issued a show-cause notice to Congress candidate from Gidderbaha Amrita Warring for allegedly making derogatory remarks against women and two communities during her election campaign.
