Punjab to promote ‘Wellness Resorts’ as a key tourism initiative under CM Bhagwant Mann
Punjab E News: Since taking office, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has focused on transforming the state into a tourism hub. In addition to traditional tourism, Mann’s administration is promoting eco-tourism and wellness resorts, creating opportunities for people to experience wellness tourism through natural therapies and ayurvedic practices.
The Punjab government has introduced a wellness tourism policy, allowing the establishment of modern wellness resorts based on India’s traditional medicine systems such as naturopathy and Ayurveda.
The policy classifies these resorts into three categories—Gold, Silver, and Bronze—each with specific requirements. Gold-category wellness resorts will be built on a minimum of 10 acres, while Silver resorts will require at least two acres. Gold-category resorts must include 20 double-bedroom tents, while Silver and Bronze resorts will offer accommodations for 10 and 5 double-bedroom units, respectively. All categories will feature swimming pools, sports facilities, and open spaces for relaxation.
These resorts will employ Ayurvedic and Unani practitioners, as well as trained yoga instructors, and offer services like spas, yoga, meditation, Ayurvedic and naturopathy treatments, and skincare therapies. The initiative aims to encourage visitors to adopt a healthier lifestyle and experience wellness in a serene, natural setting.
Through this unique wellness resort initiative, CM Bhagwant Mann’s government hopes to make Punjab a prominent destination for wellness tourism, enhancing the state’s appeal to both domestic and international tourists seeking relaxation and rejuvenation.
