Vigilance Bureau arrests JE PSPCL for accepting Rs 30,000 bribe
Chandigarh November 22, 2024 –
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Friday has apprehended Ravinder Kumar, posted at Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) Sub Division Kahnuwan, District Gurdaspur for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested on a complaint lodged by Saroop Singh, a resident of village Sathiali, in Gurdaspur.
He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that he had built a pipe factory near his house but the accused demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 for installing commercial electricity meter.
The spokesperson informed that after verification of this complaint the VB unit laid a trap during which the accused was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the said accused at VB Police Station, Range Amritsar. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigations is under progress, he said.
