Uproar in Parliament: Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha adjourned amid opposition protests
New Delhi: Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned on Monday following intense protests by opposition parties over multiple issues, including the Adani controversy and the recent violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.
As the Lok Sabha convened for the day, opposition members, including those from the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, raised slogans and demanded answers from the government on these matters. The uproar led to an initial adjournment until 12 noon.
When the Houses reconvened at noon, the opposition reiterated their demands, pressing for clarity on allegations involving Adani and the incidents in Sambhal. However, the protests escalated, forcing the adjournment of both Houses for the rest of the day.
In the Rajya Sabha, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar noted he had received 18 notices under Rule 267 to discuss various issues. Despite this, the session was disrupted as opposition members continued their demands for a debate.
