Farmers stopped from meeting Jagjit Dallewal, two detained

Chandigarh: A group of farmers was prevented from meeting farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC) in Ludhiana due to heavy security deployment.

Dallewal, admitted to the hospital earlier today, has been at the center of protests after announcing plans for a fast unto death.

The farmers, upon being stopped, staged a dharna outside the hospital’s Outpatient Department (OPD) and raised slogans against the government.

Amid the growing tension and concerns over inconvenience to patients, police detained two farmers to maintain order.

Dallewal, a prominent figure in the farmers’ movement, was reportedly detained by police from the Khanauri border on Tuesday before his planned protest.

He was subsequently brought to DMC Ludhiana for a health check-up. The incident has further fueled unrest among farmers, who remain resolute in their demands.
