Serial killer arrested in Gujarat after five murders in a month
New Delhi: Rahul Karamveer Jat, a resident of Rohtak, Haryana, has been arrested in Gujarat’s Valsad district for allegedly committing five murders, including the rape and killing of a 19-year-old woman, within a month.
The 24-year-old suspect was apprehended on November 24 at Vapi railway station after an extensive investigation involving the review of over 2,000 CCTV cameras across multiple districts.
Police officials revealed that Jat targeted lone victims, especially women, often robbing them before committing murder.
His crimes were predominantly committed on trains, where he exploited compartments reserved for differently-abled passengers. To evade capture, Jat frequently moved between states, spending nights on railway platforms and trains.
In his confession, Jat admitted to committing four other murders across different states. These include stabbing an elderly man to death aboard the Katihar Express near Howrah railway station in West Bengal and murdering a woman near Secunderabad railway station in Telangana a day before his arrest.
