PM Modi stresses focus on internal security and public safety at DGP Conference
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that there is need to enhance internal security and public safety during the All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police 2024, held in Odisha.
The three-day event, running from November 29 to December 1, will address key national security challenges, including counter-terrorism, left-wing extremism, coastal security, narcotics, and the implementation of new criminal laws.
The conference will also feature the presentation of the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services. Prime Minister Modi has been actively involved in the DGP Conference, fostering an environment of open discussions to encourage innovative ideas.
This year’s conference introduced unique elements such as Yoga sessions, break-out discussions, and thematic dining tables, aimed at maximizing engagement.
Senior police officials are expected to provide insights and recommendations on critical internal security issues during their interactions with the Prime Minister.
