Dallewal’s hunger strike enters seventh day as farmers prepare for Delhi march
Chandigarh: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike has reached its seventh day, with his health deteriorating significantly. Dallewal, who is also a cancer patient, has reportedly lost 5 kg and is experiencing breathlessness while walking.
Refusing medication, he remains determined to protest against the government’s inaction.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced plans for a Marjiwada Jatha (a group willing to sacrifice their lives) to march to Delhi on December 6.
Pandher, speaking at a press conference in Chandigarh, said that that the government has until December 5 to initiate dialogue. He criticized the Centre for halting talks since January 18, forcing farmers to escalate their protest.
In response to accusations that farmers’ use of tractor trolleys could disrupt law and order, Pandher clarified that the march to Delhi will proceed on foot.
The farmers have outlined a detailed route, with stops planned at Jaggi City, Ambala, Mohra Mandi, Khanpur, Jatta, and Pipli before reaching Delhi.
Four schools in Haryana have been designated for the march’s resting points, while the fifth stop will be in Delhi. The group will march daily from 9 am to 5 pm, spending nights on the streets as part of their protest strategy.
