Majitha police station blast was a grenade attack, Babbar Khalsa International claims responsibility
Amritsar: A powerful blast occurred late Wednesday night inside the Majitha Police Station located in Amritsar, Punjab. The explosion was so intense that it shattered the windows of the police station, and the blast originated in an open area near the station’s gate.
Following the explosion, the police station’s gates were reportedly closed, prompting an initial statement from law enforcement suggesting the blast was caused by a tire burst outside the station.
However, a significant development has emerged in the investigation. Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a separatist organization, has taken responsibility for the blast, claiming that it was a grenade attack on the police station.
The group posted a message on social media, with individuals identified as Happy Pashiya, Gopi Nawanshahriya, and Jeevan Fauji named as those responsible for the attack.
The post from Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) reads, “Waheguru Ji’s Khalsa, Waheguru Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. Today, a grenade attack was carried out on police personnel in two Majitha police stations. We take full responsibility for it. This is a continuation of actions taken over the past few days. These actions will continue, with even bigger steps to give a befitting reply to the Punjab Police and the current government, who are running a gangster rule in Punjab, becoming enemies of the Sikhs. The wait for the next action continues.”
In its statement, BKI challenged the Punjab Police’s initial claim that the explosion was caused by a tire burst. The organization described the police’s narrative as false and asserted that the attack was a targeted grenade assault. The post also issued an open challenge to the Punjab Government and the police, vowing further action against them.
This incident has raised fresh concerns about law and order in Punjab. The blast at the Majitha police station follows a recent shooting incident involving Sukhbir Singh Badal, which occurred while he was at the Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar.
The attack on Badal raised questions about the security arrangements provided by the Punjab Police and the state government, further adding to the atmosphere of uncertainty regarding public safety.
The explosion at Majitha police station, alongside these other incidents, has sparked fears about the growing lawlessness in the state. The claims by Babbar Khalsa International and the conflicting narratives surrounding the blast are adding to the tension in the region.
