Delhi High Court denies urgent hearing on Kejriwal’s plea in excise policy case

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has declined an urgent hearing on a plea filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal challenging a trial court’s notice in a money laundering case linked to the excise policy.

Kejriwal had approached the high court seeking to set aside the trial court’s orders, arguing that no prior sanction had been obtained to prosecute him. Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri, however, refused to expedite the hearing and stated, “The matter will be heard on the same date (December 20).” The court cited its pending workload as a reason for not advancing the date.

Following this, Kejriwal’s counsel requested a direction for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to share a copy of its reply in advance. The court instructed the ED counsel, “Whatever you file, give them a copy as well.”

Previously, on November 21, the high court had declined to stay trial court proceedings against Kejriwal. It had issued notice on his plea and sought a response from the ED, which is investigating the money laundering allegations.
