Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee elections to be held on Jan 19
Chandigarh: The Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) elections will take place on January 19, with voting scheduled between 8 am and 5 pm. The Commissioner Gurdwara Management Committee announced the election schedule, stating that the official notification will be issued on December 18.
Counting will begin immediately after the polls close, with results expected on the same day.
The announcement follows a recent meeting between Sikh community leaders, Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, and Haryana Gurdwara Election Commission chairman Justice H.S. Bhalla (Retd.), where leaders pushed for timely elections.
The term of the previous ad-hoc HSGMC ended in May, prompting repeated demands for elections.
On August 14, the government appointed 41 members to the ad-hoc committee to manage and oversee gurdwara properties in Haryana. Since its formation in 2014, the HSGMC has operated under government-nominated members.
