Sikh community urged to observe Punjab Shaheedi Fortnight with simplicity
Fatehgarh Sahib: Giani Raghbir Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has appealed to the Sikh community to refrain from holding celebratory events at home during Punjab Shaheedi Fortnight. Instead, he urged people to observe the occasion by attending Shaheedi Sabha events in a simple and respectful manner.
Addressing a gathering at Gurdwara Sri Jyoti Saroop Sahib during an ardas ceremony marking the gold-layering of the dome, Giani Raghbir Singh highlighted the unparalleled sacrifice of Sarbansdani Guru Gobind Singh’s family. “No religion in the world has seen a sacrifice as selfless as this,” he said.
The Jathedar also advised the youth to maintain decorum while visiting holy sites and requested langar committees to avoid preparing sweet dishes during the fortnight.
The gold-layering service, initiated on November 30, is being led by SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and Baba Avtar Singh, chief of Baba Bidhi Chand Dal.
