Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale booked for rape and murder in 12-year-old case
Chandigarh: Punjab Police have registered a case of rape and murder against preacher Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale following the death of a girl near Gurdwara Parmeshar Dwar.
The FIR was filed on December 7 at the Pasiyana police station in Patiala after sustained demands from the victim’s family. This legal action comes 12 years after the case first emerged, prompting concerns about past police inaction.
The Director General of Police (DGP) filed an affidavit with the Punjab and Haryana High Court, noting that while the mother of the deceased had not initially raised any allegations in 2012, the deceased’s sister lodged multiple complaints with police between June and November of that year seeking action against Dhadrianwale.
Despite these complaints, no further action was taken by the SHO, Inspector Ashok Kumar, and DSP Sewa Singh Malhi, who have now been issued show-cause notices.
The matter is scheduled for a court hearing tomorrow, where further legal proceedings will take place against Dhadrianwale and those accused of inaction.
