Massive traffic jams in Chandigarh as Diljit Dosanjh’s concert draws crowds
Chandigarh: Chandigarh witnessed severe traffic disruptions as thousands of fans flocked to Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in Sector 34. Roads leading to the venue, including the Zirakpur-Tribune Chowk route, were jammed, causing widespread inconvenience.
Traffic snarls were reported from various locations, including light points on the Zirakpur route and roads connecting Mohali to Chandigarh. Key areas like Sector 33-34, Piccadilly Chowk, and Labour Chowk saw gridlock, prompting Chandigarh Police to halt traffic on these roads and advise people to avoid the area.
The concert had faced prior opposition from various groups citing potential inconvenience to residents. Despite this, the Punjab and Haryana High Court permitted the event under specific conditions.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetrapal mandated that noise levels should not exceed 75 decibels. The court warned of action if the limits were breached.
Fans from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and beyond have poured into Chandigarh, amplifying the chaos and underscoring the immense popularity of the Punjabi icon.
