Punjab aims to make school children skilled through ‘Mission Samarth’
Punjab E News: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab is focused on enhancing the quality of education in schools with the goal of making students skilled and employable.
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that there is a need to modernize Punjab’s schooling system by implementing initiatives like regular Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) and improving teacher-student and teacher-parent communication.
‘Mission Samarth’, an initiative by the Punjab government, is aimed at strengthening basic skills for children from grades 3 to 8 in government schools.
This program seeks to improve literacy and numeracy among students and is a response to the identified need for better education quality.
Under this mission, the government is identifying students who need additional support, training teachers in specialized techniques, and providing additional teaching materials to support learning.
To monitor progress and effectiveness, the Punjab government has allocated a budget of Rs 10 crore for this year to implement ‘Mission Samarth’.
This includes regular assessment tests to evaluate students’ skills and development, providing workbooks, worksheets, and additional learning materials to aid in this initiative. If any teacher needs further training, the government is providing it as well.
The goal is to create an environment conducive to learning and to ensure students can successfully progress through the educational system with strong foundational skills.
