CM Mann’s revolutionary steps bring major reform in higher education in Punjab

Punjab E News: Punjab is on the brink of an educational revolution, as the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, implements transformative measures in the education sector. These reforms aim to enhance primary, secondary, and higher education alongside vocational and technical training.
The Punjab government’s focus is not merely on increasing the number of schools, colleges, and universities but on ensuring that students receive access to comprehensive facilities and quality education.
The government recognizes that higher education is not just about imparting knowledge but also about fostering critical thinking and innovation.
Through initiatives encouraging innovation in colleges and universities, students are being equipped with modern skills and competitive thinking, enabling them to excel globally.
By addressing challenges and enhancing infrastructure, Punjab is preparing students for better employment opportunities and a prosperous future.
For the fiscal year 2024-25, the state government has proposed an allocation of Rs 80 crore under the National Higher Education Mission (RUSA). An additional Rs 10 crore has been set aside to improve college infrastructure, introduce skill orientation programs, and provide sports facilities to give students an experience comparable to private institutions.
In line with its commitment to ensuring no student is deprived of education due to financial constraints, the Punjab government has allocated Rs 6 crore for the CM Scholarship Scheme. This initiative provides fee waivers and scholarships to students enrolled in state universities.
The government’s efforts are poised to make Punjab a hub of educational excellence and contribute significantly to the state’s growth and prosperity.
