Farmer leader Pandher announces Punjab bandh after rail roko agitation
Chandigarh: Farmers in Punjab staged a rail roko agitation today, blocking train services for three hours before vacating the tracks. Following the protest, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced a statewide bandh on December 30 during a press conference.
Pandher stated that Punjab will remain closed on the designated day, with exemptions only for emergency services.
He also warned that future rail roko movements will continue until the farmers’ demands are addressed.
In a fiery statement, Pandher issued a warning related to the ongoing protest by farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a fast-unto-death.
“Jagjit Singh will not reach Dallewal without the blood of farmers. The eye that looks at the Khanauri border will be removed, and the hand that stretches here will be cut off,” Pandher said.
The bandh announcement is part of the farmers’ ongoing efforts to pressure the government to meet their demands.
