Services of Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar suspended amid Valtoha controversy
Chandigarh: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has suspended the services of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh for two weeks following a dispute involving Harpreet Singh and Valtoha.
The decision was made during an SGPC meeting held at Katana Sahib in Samrala, Ludhiana, chaired by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. This was the first meeting held outside Amritsar since Advocate Dhami assumed his role as president.
During this period, the Head Granthi of Sri Damdama Sahib will temporarily perform the duties of the Jathedar. To address the controversy, the SGPC has formed a three-member committee headed by Raghujit Singh Virk, with members Sher Singh Mand and Daljit Singh Bhinder.
The committee has been tasked with investigating the matter and submitting a report to the SGPC soon.
The SGPC had not cleared the meeting agenda beforehand, making the suspension decision a key outcome of this session.
