Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala passes away at 89
Chandigarh: Om Prakash Chautala, five-time Chief Minister of Haryana and president of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), passed away today at the age of 89.
He suffered a heart attack at his residence and was rushed to Medanta Hospital, where he breathed his last at 12 noon, according to a senior police officer.
Chautala, the son of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal, had been grappling with age-related health issues in recent years.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters. His wife, Sneh Lata, had passed away five years ago.
Leaders across the political spectrum, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, expressed their condolences over Chautala’s demise.
Chautala’s political career spanned decades, marked by his leadership of the INLD and significant influence in Haryana’s politics.
