Farmers’ protest: Dallewal’s fast unto death enters 26th day, condition critical

Chandigarh: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike at the Khanauri border has entered its 26th day, with his condition reportedly critical. A team of doctors is closely monitoring his health, conducting check-ups every six hours.

Dallewal, who has stopped meeting visitors, remains steadfast in his protest, which has drawn attention to farmers’ demands.

Meanwhile, a significant meeting is underway in Patiala between the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and its non-political faction.

This discussion is seen as pivotal, with expectations of a major decision regarding the ongoing movement at the Khanauri and Shambhu borders.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, “The front we are fighting is different,” clarifying that his faction cannot join the SKM for now. A strategy to address conflicts within the movement is being developed.

In preparation for any medical emergencies, the administration has set up a four-room hospital near the protest site at Khanauri, complete with ambulances on standby.

The prolonged hunger strike and ongoing protests have further highlighted the challenges faced by farmers and the urgency of their demands.
