Court orders suspension of Ambala Sadar SHO for failing to register woman’s complaint

Chandigarh: Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Anil Vij, directed the suspension of Satish Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Ambala Sadar police station, during a Janata Camp held in Ambala Cantt on Monday.

The action was taken after a woman broke down while narrating her ordeal, alleging that the SHO had refused to register her complaint. Minister Vij confronted SHO Kumar, asking for an explanation.

When the SHO argued instead of addressing the matter, it angered the minister.

“I am a minister, and you have disobeyed my orders,” said Vij. He further reminded the officer that he was not a judge and immediately contacted the Director General of Police (DGP) to recommend Kumar’s suspension.

The incident unfolded during the public grievances meeting, where the minister listened to issues raised by residents of the Ambala Cantt assembly constituency.
