High Court mandates free treatment for victims of rape, acid attacks, and POCSO cases

New Delhi: In a landmark ruling, the Delhi High Court has directed that victims of rape, acid attacks, sexual assault, and cases under the POCSO Act must receive free medical treatment in government and private healthcare facilities, including nursing homes.

The judgment was delivered by a division bench comprising Justice Prathiba M. Singh and Justice Amit Sharma. The court emphasized that all healthcare institutions—whether government-funded or private—must ensure immediate medical care and essential health services for these victims.

The order aims to eliminate financial barriers for survivors seeking medical aid and mandates compliance from both public and private healthcare providers. The bench underlined the urgency of implementing these measures to protect the rights and dignity of victims.
