Four killed, including three schoolchildren, in Jharkhand road accident
New Delhi: At least four people, including three schoolchildren, lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Tirla Chowk in the Gola police station area of Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district on Wednesday morning. Eight others sustained injuries when a truck loaded with potatoes overturned and crushed an auto-rickshaw carrying schoolchildren.
The victims, aged between five and eight years, were buried under the truck. Despite efforts by passersby, three children and the auto driver died on the spot. The incident triggered protests by locals and grieving family members, who blocked the road in a chakka jam, causing significant traffic disruption.
Ramgarh MLA Mamta Devi visited the site, while administrative officials promised action against the management of Goodwill Mission School. The school had defied a government order to close all educational institutions until January 13 due to severe cold, drawing sharp criticism from parents and locals.
Authorities are also pursuing the truck driver, who fled the scene following the accident. Raids are underway to apprehend the accused.
