AAP delegation meets Election Commission over alleged voter fraud in Delhi assembly polls

New Delhi: A delegation from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by party chief Arvind Kejriwal, met Election Commission officials on Thursday to raise concerns over alleged irregularities in the New Delhi constituency of the Delhi Assembly.

The delegation highlighted issues of voter fraud, including the addition of a large number of new votes and the removal of existing voters from electoral rolls.

Kejriwal alleged that 5,500 votes were recorded in the constituency within 22 days, from December 15 to January 7, amounting to 5.5% of the constituency’s total 1,00,000 votes.

He further claimed that 89 applications for the removal of votes were submitted during this period, but 18 of those individuals denied filing such requests.

Speaking to reporters after meeting two election commissioners, Kejriwal said, “This clearly points to irregularities. The investigation by lower authorities revealed that individuals listed in the applications did not request the removal of their names.”

Kejriwal also alleged that 8,13,000 new voter applications were received between December 15 and January, raising further suspicion.

He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its candidate, Parvesh Verma, of distributing money and using health camps and job fairs to influence voters.

The Election Commission assured the AAP delegation of “strict action” against any proven irregularities or corruption.
