“I am not God, but I won’t act with bad intentions”: PM Modi in podcast debut, read
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his first-ever podcast appearance on Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath’s show, candidly shared insights on leadership, his ideology, and personal values. Modi acknowledged the novelty of the experience, saying, “This is my first podcast, I don’t know how your audience will feel about it.”
Reflecting on his journey, Modi said that when he became Chief Minister, he pledged to work hard and refrain from self-serving actions.
“I am a human who can make mistakes, but I would never do anything wrong with bad intentions. This is the mantra of my life. After all, I am a human being, not a god,” he remarked.
Discussing the ideologies of freedom fighters, Modi emphasized that although Mahatma Gandhi and Veer Savarkar followed different paths, their shared ideology was freedom.
He said, “Idealism is far more important than ideology. Before Independence, the ideology of freedom fighters was Azadi. Gandhi’s path was different, but the ideology was freedom. Savarkar chose his path, but his ideology was freedom.”
Modi described his guiding principle as “Nation First,” explaining that his decisions are shaped by this belief, allowing him to embrace new ideas while shedding outdated traditions.
In a touching recollection, Modi credited his teachers for shaping his life. He shared how he once publicly honored 30-32 of his former teachers, including a governor, as a gesture of gratitude. “Those were the best moments of my life,” he said.
The podcast provided a rare glimpse into the Prime Minister’s personal reflections, describing his commitment to the nation and the values that drive his leadership.
