Farmers’ groups urge SKM to hold emergency meeting at Dhabaigujjaran border

Chandigarh: The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (non-political) have called for an emergency meeting of the SKM’s coordination committee, citing the deteriorating health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal.

The groups urged that the meeting, originally scheduled for January 15 in Patiala, be held immediately at the Dhabaigujjaran border instead.

Farmer leaders Sukhjit Singh Hardojhande, Abhimanyu Kohar, Lakhwinder Aulakh, Inderjit Kotbudha, and others shared details of the request during a press conference at the Dhabaigujjaran border.

They confirmed that the letter urging the change in schedule and venue has been sent to SKM representatives through WhatsApp and other means.

The SKM coordination committee had previously visited the Shambhu and Khanauri borders as part of decisions made at the Kisan Mahapanchayat in Moga on January 9 and invited participants for the January 15 meeting.

Meanwhile, medical reports, including samples and ultrasounds conducted by a high-level medical board formed by the Punjab government on January 9, have raised concerns about Dallewal’s health.
