“Let’s test Yamuna water together”: Atishi challenges Haryana CM Saini
New Delhi: The political battle over the Delhi assembly elections has intensified, with pollution in the Yamuna emerging as a key issue. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have accused each other of being responsible for the river’s contamination.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier alleged that the BJP-led Haryana government was poisoning the Yamuna water. Current Chief Minister Atishi also criticized Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini over the issue.
Responding to Atishi, Saini accused AAP of blaming Haryana to cover its failures. “Delhi gets its drinking water from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Water from Haryana flows into the Yamuna in Delhi. AAP always curses Haryana for its shortcomings,” Saini said.
Atishi, in a post on X, challenged Saini to visit Palla Ghat on the Yamuna with her and the media to test the water quality. “Naib Saini ji, I have learned that you are visiting Palla Ghat. I request that we go together and measure the ammonia levels in front of everyone so Delhiites know Haryana is sending them poisonous water,” she wrote.
