28-year-old dies of drug overdose; village sarpanch among seven accused

Chandigarh: A 28-year-old man died of a drug overdose in a local market on Thursday, with police naming seven individuals, including four women, as suspects. Among them is Gurpreet Kaur, the sarpanch of Rohti Chhanna village.

According to DSP Nabha Mandeep Kaur, the deceased, a Chandigarh resident, had been undergoing treatment at a local drug de-addiction center for two months and was discharged the same day he died.

Police allege that the sarpanch facilitated drug peddlers by providing them with honey. Four women have been arrested, while a search is underway for the remaining accused.
