JALANDHAR RURAL POLICE ISSUES STERN WARNING AGAINST CHINESE KITE STRING THIS BASANT

Jalandhar News: Ahead of Basant Panchami, Jalandhar Rural Police has warned of strict action against anyone using or selling Chinese kite string (synthetic manjha), including booking them for attempt to murder.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, today announced that special police teams will conduct raids across the district to check the sale and use of this deadly string. “Despite being banned, some people continue to sell and use Chinese string, putting innocent lives at risk. We will book offenders under non-bailable sections, including attempt to murder,” the SSP Khakh said.

The SSP Khakh explained that Chinese string has caused several fatal accidents in the past, particularly involving two-wheeler riders. “This synthetic string is as dangerous as a weapon. It has taken many lives and caused serious injuries. We cannot allow such dangers during a festival meant for celebration,” he added.

Special teams under SP and DSP-rank officers will patrol markets and kite-flying areas in all Sub divisions of Jalandhar Rural.

Police stations have been directed to maintain strict vigil in their areas. Shopkeepers found selling Chinese string will face immediate arrest and seizure of their stock.

The SSP Khakh appealed to parents to ensure their children use only traditional cotton string for kite flying. “We want everyone to enjoy Basant Panchami, but not at the cost of human lives. Those who choose to violate these directions will face severe consequences,” he warned.

The police have set up a special control room to monitor violations. Citizens can report any information about Chinese string through:24×7 Control Room, Helpline No. 112 and Nearest Police Station.
