Kejriwal urges EC to appoint independent observers in New Delhi constituency

New Delhi: AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal has written to the Election Commission, requesting the appointment of independent observers in his New Delhi constituency ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

In the letter, he also demanded the arrest of BJP workers accused of attacking AAP supporters and the suspension of police officials allegedly involved in the incidents.

The BJP and Delhi Police have not yet responded to Kejriwal’s allegations. He cited multiple incidents of attacks on AAP workers, claiming that as the elections draw closer, the BJP has resorted to “hooliganism.”

Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal asserted that the AAP is moving toward a “decisive victory” in the February 5 polls, causing “anxiety” among BJP leaders, particularly Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

He accused BJP workers of intimidating and assaulting AAP volunteers, alleging they were being forced to join the BJP under threats of arrest and violence.

Kejriwal also announced a social media campaign under the hashtag ‘#AmitShahKiGundagardi’ on X, urging people to share their experiences of alleged intimidation.

He claimed the BJP lacks both a chief ministerial candidate and a development agenda for Delhi, relying instead on fear tactics to gain votes.

Appealing to Delhi residents, Kejriwal called for unity against the BJP to safeguard the city’s security and democratic integrity.
