Delhi Assembly elections on February 5: 1.56 crore voters to decide fate of 699 candidates
New Delhi: Elections for the Delhi Assembly will be held on Wednesday, February 5, with tight security arrangements in place, the Election Commission has announced.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Congress have fielded candidates across all 70 assembly constituencies, while independents and local party candidates are also in the fray.
According to Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, 1.56 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballots at 13,766 polling stations. This includes 83.76 lakh men, 72.36 lakh women, and 1,267 third-gender voters.
The Election Commission has set up 733 polling stations for persons with disabilities and introduced the Queue Management System (QMS) app to help voters check crowd levels at polling stations.
