Farmers’ leaders push for unity ahead of meeting on Feb 12
Chandigarh: Senior farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, speaking at a press conference at the Shambhu border morcha, stated that a delegation from Delhi Andolan 2 attended a meeting convened by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (India) on February 12.
The meeting aimed to strengthen ties with fraternal organizations and take the ongoing struggle for agricultural reforms to a more comprehensive level.
“We support overall unity, but the nature of this unity will be decided in the meeting,” Pandher said, urging all organizations to prioritize public interest in their deliberations.
He confirmed that farmer representatives would meet ministers from the central and Punjab governments in Chandigarh on February 14.
“Despite the government’s stance being evident in the recent budget, we have always remained open to dialogue,” he added.
On February 13, marking one year of the Shambhu border morcha, leaders from across the country and farm laborers from Punjab and Haryana are expected to join in large numbers.
Pandher warned that if no amicable solution is reached in the February 14 meeting, farmers will march on foot from the Shambhu border to Delhi on February 25.
