President’s rule imposed in Manipur following CM N Biren Singh’s resignation

New Delhi: The central government has decided to impose President’s rule in Manipur following the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

His resignation comes amid longstanding demands for his removal due to the death of hundreds of people in caste-related violence in the state over the past two years.

After Singh’s resignation, there was speculation about the possibility of another BJP MLA being appointed as the new chief minister.

BJP in-charge Sambit Patra also met with the Governor to discuss the situation. However, the Governor later recommended imposing President’s rule, leading to the central government’s decision.
