Scuffle erupts between Ravneet Bittu security and Chandigarh Police outside CM Mann residence
Chandigarh: Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu was stopped outside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence on Wednesday, leading to a scuffle between his security personnel and Chandigarh Police officials.
Bittu had arrived to hold a debate with the chief minister, but security personnel did not allow him entry. Police officials stated that Bittu did not have permission to visit Mann’s residence and stopped his convoy.
The situation escalated when officers tried to forcibly remove the driver of the pilot vehicle, leading to an argument between Bittu’s security and the police.
A video of the incident has surfaced, showing officials accusing Bittu’s convoy of blocking the way. The driver of Bittu’s pilot vehicle insisted that the Union minister was under Ministry of Home Affairs security and could not be left alone.
However, a police officer responded, saying, “You do your duty, and let us do ours. You cannot block the way like this.”
Chandigarh Police DSP Udaypal confirmed that Bittu was denied entry due to a lack of prior permission.
The incident comes after a recent event in Ludhiana, where CM Mann had invited leaders from all parties for a discussion on Punjab’s issues. However, no opposition leaders attended.
Bittu later said that Mann frequently challenges others to debates, so he went to the CM’s residence to present the “real picture of Punjab.” He also alleged that false pamphlets had been circulated against his supporters, creating trouble for them.
