Bride reverses tradition, brings baraat to groom’s house in Punjab
Chandigarh: In a unique wedding ceremony, bride Harman Kaur arrived at her groom’s house with a wedding procession, reversing the traditional custom of the groom leading the baraat to the bride’s home.
Adding to the uniqueness, the wedding took place in the middle of a wheat field, where the groom’s family had set up a tent for the ceremony. Guests and the wedding procession were served food amid the standing crop.
Harman Kaur, who lives in Canada with her husband, said they had returned to Punjab for their wedding. “Whatever happens to the husband after marriage also happens to the wife, so I have brought the baraat to my husband’s house today,” she said.
The couple also used the occasion to promote environmental awareness. The wedding venue was decorated with lush green plants, and guests were given saplings as gifts before their departure.
