Virat Kohli becomes fastest batsman to reach 14,000 ODI runs

New Delhi: Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has made history in the Champions Trophy match against Pakistan, becoming the fastest batsman to reach 14,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He surpassed the previous record set by Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli is now the third batsman to surpass the 14,000-run mark in ODIs, joining Tendulkar (18,246) and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara (14,234).

He achieved the milestone in just 287 innings, significantly faster than Tendulkar (350 innings) and Sangakkara (378 innings).

Both Kohli and Tendulkar reached 14,000 runs against Pakistan. Kohli needed 15 runs to achieve the landmark and reached it with a four in the 13th over.

Previously, Kohli completed 13,000 ODI runs during the Asia Cup against Pakistan in Colombo in September 2023. He also holds the record for 50 ODI centuries, surpassing Tendulkar’s tally during the 2023 World Cup in Mumbai against New Zealand.
