Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S.Kultar Singh Sandhwan today announced that the much-awaited 6th Edition of Punjab Arena Polo Challenge Cup would take place during Holla Mohalla celebrations in Sri Anandpur Sahib by bringing together top-tier players and enthusiasts from across the country for an exhilarating display of equestrian skill, tradition, and horsemanship. Speaker also launched the Anandpur Sahib Polo T-shirt for this tournament.
Addressing the Press Conference, Speaker Sandhwan said that the tournament is scheduled to kick off on 14th March 2025 from 3.00 to 5.00 P.M. at the Charan Ganga Stadium, Sri Anandpur Sahib. This stadium is renowned for its world-class facilities developed to host the world famous Holla Mohalla festival, displaying Medieval martial arts of the Nihang Singh Jathebandis or “Guru Ki Ladli Fauj” first established in 1701 by Dashmesh Pita Dhan Dhan, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in these picturesque surroundings.
He further informed that this prestigious event will feature elite polo teams competing in a series of high-stakes matches, offering an action-packed experience for spectators and participants alike. The tournament would also highlight Punjab’s rich equestrian tradition, sporting heritage and provide an opportunity to showcase the region’s growing influence in the polo community.
He highlighted that the event would be graced by prominent figures from the world of sports, including industry leaders, sponsors, and dignitaries. In addition to the high-octane matches, the tournament would also offer a martial arts display and cultural activities, ensuring that spectators and visitors in the mela can enjoy a weekend of sports and celebrations.
Elaborating further the key highlights of the tournament, he added that Elite polo teams from across India would participate in thrilling matches and competitive plays at the Charan Ganga Stadium, Sri Anandpur Sahib. Besides this, equestrian performances and entertainment for all ages with special appearances by renowned polo players and sports personalities will also showcase a family-friendly atmosphere with traditional music, and much more.
Sandhwan told the media that removing the photos of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar from Delhi Chief Minister Office is very unfortunate and highly condemnable. He added that the BJP wants to destroy the federal structure of India by adopting the policy of hatred.
Furthermore, Sandhwan stated that the BJP government has once again expressed its anti-Punjabi and anti-Punjab thinking by ignoring our mother tongue Punjabi in the new pattern of CBSE class 10 exams. This practice of distancing children from their mother tongue will not be tolerated at all because Punjabi is not just a language for us but the soul of all Punjabis. Therefore, I strongly request the Central Government to immediately withdraw this anti-Punjab step by amending their rules and give due respect to our mother tongue Punjabi.

This event will not only showcase the exciting nature of polo but also shine a spotlight on the History and significance of Sri Anandpur Sahib, birthplace of the Khalsa Panth and home to the Holla Mohalla celebrations.
