Six arrested for writing pro-Khalistan slogans in Sangrur, police allege SFJ involvement
Chandigarh: The Sangrur district police have arrested six individuals for allegedly writing pro-Khalistan slogans in Satoj village, the native village of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Officials recovered a motorcycle, a mobile phone, a paint spray can, and a saffron flag with “SFJ” written on it, which were allegedly used in the act.
The case was registered on February 12, with Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun also named as a wanted accused, police said.
At a press conference, SPD Palwinder Singh Cheema stated that the case was lodged at Dharamgarh police station based on information received. He said that similar slogans had been written in the village in the past, along with the installation of a saffron flag bearing “Khalistan.” A video related to the incident was circulated on social media by Pannun.
The arrested individuals were identified as Jagraj Singh alias Soni, Gurmeet Singh alias Giti from Mansa district, Amritpal Singh, Baljinder Singh from Bathinda district, and Baljit Singh alias Prabhu and Attarvir Singh alias Attar from Chauke in Bathinda district.
Cheema said that the investigation revealed Pannun, who is abroad, had allegedly been instigating Punjab’s youth to carry out such acts in exchange for money, with the aim of creating unrest. The police claimed that the accused admitted to committing the act for financial gain.
