Akal Takht Jathedar says he is prepared if removed from post

Amritsar: Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh has said that he has kept his clothes ready in a bag, indicating his preparedness in case he is removed from his position. He made this statement during an informal interaction with the media today.

He said that continuing in the role or stepping down would be in accordance with the Guru’s will, adding that the service of this position is only possible with the Guru’s grace.

On the ongoing recruitment process of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), he said that the seven-member committee, formed following an Akal Takht decision on December 2, has yet to initiate the recruitment process. He urged the committee to start the process as per the Akal Takht’s directive.

He criticized the committee’s slow progress, noting that nearly two and a half months have passed since its formation. The committee had submitted a report stating that the SAD was not cooperating in the matter. However, he clarified that the committee was instructed to begin recruitment independently.
