Jaipur Police register case against IIT Baba after narcotics recovery
New Delhi: IIT Baba, also known as Abhay Singh, has remained in the spotlight since the Mahakumbh but continues to be embroiled in controversies. His troubles have largely stemmed from his statements.
During the Maha Kumbh, he was expelled from the Juna Akhara camp for allegedly using abusive language against his guru. Juna Akhara’s international spokesperson, Shrimahant Narayan Giri, had stated that Abhay Singh was not a sadhu but had come from Lucknow and was posing as a self-styled monk.
“He had come with Mahant Someshwar Guru but used abusive language about his guru on social media. As a result, his entry into and around the Akhara camp was banned,” Giri had said.
On February 28, reports emerged of IIT Baba being assaulted during a debate program at a private news channel’s studio in Noida. He informed the police that some saffron-clad men entered the newsroom, misbehaved with him, and beat him with sticks. However, the group withdrew their protest after police intervention.
Now, Jaipur Police have registered a case against him after narcotics (ganja) were recovered during a check near him. The incident occurred at Riddhi Siddhi Park Classic Hotel, following a police visit in connection with a suicide case.
However, IIT Baba was released on bail immediately as the quantity of ganja recovered was small, making it a bailable offense. A case has been registered at Shipra Path police station.
