After election defeat, Arvind Kejriwal to undergo 10-day Vipassana meditation in Punjab
New Delhi: After Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) heavy defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, party chief Arvind Kejriwal has remained less visible in public. Reports suggest that he will now undergo a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat at the Dhamma-Dhaja Vipassana Yoga Centre in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, from March 5 to 15.
This is not the first time Kejriwal has attended Vipassana. In December 2023, before the Lok Sabha elections, he spent 10 days at the same center. At that time, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had intensified action against him, but he had avoided appearing before the agency.
AAP, which ruled Delhi for nine consecutive years, faced a major setback in the recent elections, winning only 22 of 70 seats. Kejriwal himself lost his seat. Since the results, he has mostly appeared at party-related events, with limited public presence. His Vipassana retreat has sparked discussions about his future political strategy.
Vipassana, an ancient meditation technique rediscovered by Gautama Buddha over 2,500 years ago, aims at self-purification through self-observation. It is practiced in silence, focusing on the deep connection between mind and body.
The meditation center, located in the foothills of the Shivalik range, offers individual meditation rooms and a pagoda for intensive practice.
