India condemns security breach after Jaishankar faces Khalistani protests in London

London: India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar faced protests from Khalistani extremists in London on Wednesday night. As he exited an event at the Chatham House think tank, a Khalistani supporter surrounded his car and attempted to disrespect the Indian national flag.

A video of the incident circulating on social media shows a protester tearing the Indian flag. London police officers present at the scene reportedly did not intervene.

Jaishankar is on an official visit to the UK and Ireland from March 4 to 9 to strengthen diplomatic ties.

India has strongly condemned the security breach. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have seen footage of the breach in the security of the External Affairs Minister during his visit to the UK. We condemn these provocative activities of small groups of separatists and extremists.”

“We condemn the misuse of democratic freedom by such elements. We hope that the host government will discharge its diplomatic responsibilities in such cases.”
