Air India’s Chicago-Delhi flight returns after 10 hours due to toilet malfunction

New Delhi: Air India’s Chicago-Delhi flight AI126 was forced to return to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport after being in the air for over ten hours due to a technical issue, sources said.

According to flight tracking website Flightradar24, the Boeing 777-337ER aircraft, which has over 340 seats across first, business, and economy class, experienced a malfunction that left only one toilet operational. The aircraft has a total of ten toilets, including two for first-class passengers.

A source familiar with the matter told PTI that the flight was diverted as most toilets on board were out of service.

An Air India spokesperson confirmed that the flight returned to Chicago on March 6 due to a technical snag. “Upon arrival in Chicago, all passengers and crew members have been deplaned as usual, and accommodation has been arranged,” the spokesperson said.
